ShopForTerra is a small, independent shopping platform. The idea behind it is simple: people are going to shop online regardless, so the commissions that retailers already pay for referrals can be redirected toward environmental work instead of being kept entirely as profit.
How it works
When you browse products here and click through to a retailer, that retailer pays an affiliate commission for the referral. The price you pay is the same as if you had gone directly — the commission comes out of the retailer's normal marketing budget, not out of your pocket. Of the revenue ShopForTerra earns from these commissions and from advertising shown on the site, 30% is donated to four environmental organizations as a matter of company policy, and 70% covers the cost of running and improving the platform.
What we don't do
We don't offer cashback, points, or rewards for clicking. That kind of per-purchase incentive is prohibited by the terms of the affiliate programs we depend on, and it would also turn our recommendations into a vehicle for redirecting cash to users rather than genuine suggestions. The model we use is cleaner: you pay the normal price, the merchant pays a commission, and 30% of that commission funds environmental work. No one is paid to click anything.
What you'll find here
The site focuses on a curated set of home energy and efficiency products — solar, batteries, portable power, insulation and climate control — rather than trying to be a full marketplace. Each product carries an eco-score and eco-tags so the reasoning behind a rating is transparent, and our ratings methodology is published openly rather than hidden behind a single number. We also publish a Transparency page showing revenue earned and an estimate of donations to date.
Who's behind it
ShopForTerra is operated by a small independent team. It's a for-profit company, not a charity — and we are public about that because the donation commitment is more credible when it isn't buried inside a "we're basically a nonprofit" framing. Our donors, our ratings methodology, and our financial transparency are all published on this site rather than hidden.
